Penya – ‘Karachi – What Could Have Been’
Penya‘s hypnotic groovescapes, led by Jim LeM‘s bata drumming, ancient chants, sung by Lilli Elina, dubbed-out improvisations on trombone by Viva Msimangand and lo-fi electronic production by Magnus P.I create a sound that owes its genesis to the concept of ‘liminality’: the threshold of disorientation occurring during ritual practices. Following on from the critically acclaimed Penya Investigations cassettes and the 12” Acelere EP, Afro-Latin-electronic collective Penya concluded an intensely creative period with a Long Player collection of tracks Super Liminal from which we have picked ‘Karachi – What Could Have Been’.

Esofact – ‘Blocks’
Urple Eeple (Peter Farr) and Isturite’s (Kevin Welch) dynamic collaboration Esofact released their new single ‘Blocks’ on 13 December via Chillage Records. The track is lifted from their self titled EP Esofact to be released early 2020. On ‘Blocks’ we see the duo experiment with meticulously glitchy atmospheres and expansive texture. Their elegant formula unfolds from the get-go, impeccably sequenced with light vocal chops adding a sense of mystery to the track.

59 Perlen – ‘Arcane’
‘Arcane’ is a groovy track that sits somewhere between Ambient Deep-house and Techno. Featuring warm field recordings from Mumbai, India, it’s the second track taken from the forthcoming EP Five which is due for release on 17 January 2020.
Rasmus Faber x Metaxas – ‘Be Real’ (Kenny Gold Remix)
This debut solo remix from LA-based producer Kenny Gold is taken from the Be Real: Remixes EP collaboration, a Majestic Casual presentation moulding different influences from artists separated by land but connected by music. It is a celebration of Swedish artist Rasmus Faber and Cypriot producer Metaxas‘ 2018 single ‘Be Real’, which now has over 20 million streams.
KLANGPLANET – ‘Space’
‘SPACE’ is a retro dipped melodic Deep House tribute to space missions, with toppings of Funk and Soul, from songwriter/producer Frieder Mollat. Graduating from college as a musicologist in 1995 he joined the music industry and, over the years, he has been writing music for several projects, signing a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Germany in 2001. 2017 marks his personal milestone as a solo artist with the launch of his own project KLANGPLANET.

GOOSE – ‘Words’ (Cellini Remix)
Artist on the rise, Cellini shares a brand new genre-blurring and trippy remix of Belgian electro-rock band GOOSE’s ‘Words’. Released back in 2010, ‘Words’ was the first single on GOOSE’s second album Synrise. This track has a lot of value to Cellini as it opened his eyes to different types of electronic music and inspired him to explore the electronic scene.
Anthony Linell – ‘Crystal Storms’
The opening track to Anthony Linell‘s Core Field Horizon is a deluge. Spinning on its hydro-blasted synth line, the gravitational pull erases and ensnares in equal disordering measure.

Carly Paradis – ‘The Crushing Weight of History’ (Michael Stein Remix)
UK-based Composer Carly Paradis has collaborated with an incredibly talented and eclectic mix of artists on her new album Nothing Is Something, released November 29th. She perhaps saved the best for last though, with Stranger Things composer Michael Stein (of S U R V I V E) putting his signature stamp on the album track ‘The Crushing Weight of History’. He takes the track and transforms it with layers of thick synth work, making an entirely new track that’s perfect for night driving, perhaps en route to seeing the latest Nicolas Winding Refn flick.
