International DJ and producer Prince Paris has just treated fans with his newly released single, ‘Ordinary Fools Ft. Claire Ridgely’ via Physical Presents. Currently based in Athens, Greece and originally hailing from Montreal Canada, the producer is well-known for his international stage presence and has appeared at numerous festivals including Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorroworld, Ultra Miami and Pier 94. His music speaks to the romantics at heart, who long for the days of normalcy – a simple date and taking risks on a hot summer day.

Set the tone for us. Why the arts?

Ever since I was young, I was surrounded by European kids that would listen to dance music, me being one of them the passion quickly overcame me. I would then start torrenting trance music, became a fan of Daft Punk…download my first music software and then it began!

Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?

Whatever is inspiring, the idea can always change depending on the sound! Or going in with a firm idea is important to.

Does your material feature any collaborations?

Yes, on this EP I have had the pleasure to work with Fenech Soler & fellow Montrealer Claire Ridgely.

What’s on your current playlist?

Everything from old school trance to some RnB, depends on the mood really.

Tell us about the chemistry you have with your fans on stage.

This question is making me miss touring haha. I just love to perform and having a crowd is the icing on the cake. I always aim to showcase the sound that I like while at the same time, my focus is making sure the fans are having a memorable night, it’s all about making a memory at the end of the day.

What techniques do you experiment with to get your original sound?

Never been a fan of revealing them! Its always turned out bad hehe.

Take us through a day in the recording studio.

I am only 1/2 of a person as the other half is Simo, from our original duo Paris & Simo. Prince Paris is really a collaborative project between us, so we generally try to meet-up and work together as much as possible. It usually starts with a sound or idea and then we dig in.

Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “this is what I want to do”?

After torrenting trance music and being obsessed, that really solidified it for young me!

What do you keep close by while you’re playing a set?

No phone or water. I hate having to run to the washroom during a set. Definitely only the headphones 🙂

Any emerging artists on your radar?

Castion!

What gets your creative juices flowing?

It starts with a good melody, but can be even a kick and we take it from there.

Take us through your collection of gear, tech or software that accompanies your creative expression.

Keeping it simple! Only Logic Pro + some plugins, no gear needed 🙂 Using a lot of stock logic plugin these days.

How have you refined your craft since you entered the industry?

I learnt to trust my gut more. Most mistakes were when I went against it.

Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?

New music, new music, new music! I’m itching to finally get the singles out, and even more antsy about getting to perform them.

Famous last words?

Paris & Simo is forever
