Erick Morillo has died at 49

Morillo was found dead on Tuesday, September 1st, with the cause of death yet to be determined by the medical examiner. The news comes less than a month after being arrested and charged for sexual battery.

The news broke via TMZ and a statement obtained from the Miami Beach PD has been shared by Mixmag that reads: “The Miami Beach Police Department is investigating the death of Mr. Erick A. Morillo (DOB: 3/26/71). We received a 911 call this morning at 10:42 a.m to 5660 La Gorce Drive in Miami Beach. Detectives responded to the scene and did not observe any apparent signs of foul play. The cause of death will be determined by the Miami Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.”

Born in 1971 in New York and raised between Colombia and New Jersey, Morillo is perhaps best known for his work under the pseudonym Reel 2 Real behind the hit ‘I Like to Move It’ released in 1993. Morillo founded Subliminal Records in 1999 and has held residencies at many major clubs.
