THE PLAYGROUND returns to Electric Brixton for what promises to be one of our biggest nights yet. Headlining the legendary venue will be none other than Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo aka THE BLOODY BEETROOTS in a brand new live performance on Friday 23rd June until the late hours of the morning with guest CROOKERS, CASPA, AUTOEROTIQUE and more!
► Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo aka THE BLOODY BEETROOTS is about to make a statement to the world, starting with a game changing new live show across Europe in 2017. After a hiatus and a sabbatical from live performing, Sir Bob is coming back to his European roots for a string of shows, with Electric Brixton his preferred London destination. This is THE BLOODY BEETROOTS- LIVE at full throttle!
This will be Europe’s exclusive preview into the new world of THE BLOODY BEETROOTS, and a chance to experience the red-hot new album before it’s release later in 2017.
From the start, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo aka THE BLOODY BEETROOTS was capable of synergising sonics and sensibilities from THE DAMNED to DEBUSSY, the anthemic wistfulness of new wave and primal screams of hardcore punk, into remarkably actualised efforts that became platforms for larger socio-political historiography and cultural histrionics.
One of the most eclectic artists signed to ULTRA Records/DIM MAK Records in America, we can’t wait to host the hottest electronica project to come out of Italy.
► CROOKERS is the musical project of Italian DJ and producer, Francesco “Phra” Barbaglia. has produced the song “Ghetto Guetta” under the Crookers allias, the song was published on Phra’s own label Ciao Recs under licence to the Be Yourself Catalog as well as OWSLA. Phra has stormed 2014 with singles being released from his forthcoming[citation needed] ‘Sixteen Chapel’ album. ‘Heavy’ followed ‘Ghetto Guetta’ as the 2nd single off the album. There were remixes from Hybrid Theory, Donovans and Sharkslayer & First Gift. Following that, Crookers then released Able To Maximize via Ciao Recs with remixes from Chuckie, franskild, Mao Ra Sun, Digi and Suck Fake.
► CASPA– UK bass pioneer, DJ, label owner, ex-pro basketball player, straight talking dubstep champion, dopest ghost: Caspa can be introduced in many ways. But the best is through his beats. His decade-deep discography has dented dances since dubstep’s earliest chapters. Over three studio albums, four mix compilations, 30+ singles and many high-profile remixes including Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Swedish House Mafia, Grand Puba, Ludacris, Miike Snow and TC, his precision heavyweight productions have been released on eminent labels such as Digital Soundboy and Tempa as well as his own influential imprints DubPolice and Subsoldiers. Both iconic dubstep brands that have played a major role in the worldwide dubstep phenomenon and boasted the earliest work of some of the scene’s most respected creative artists like L-Wiz, Subscape, The Others, Emalkay and Caspa’s partner in grime Rusko.
► AUTOEROTIQUE stores electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave-rock, indie-rock and even ska on speed dial and calls them up frequently. Their effortlessly protean, shape-shifting sound can careen wildly from project to project, so it’s not unexpected to hear them transform from Techno to, say, Norwegian black metal on the same record – thus, earning them the lazily au courant nick name “Autobots”.
Returning in early 2009 and signing with Dim Mak Records, the duo streaked like a tracer bullet through the strobe-lit sky of the T.O. dance community with their official first single Gladiator featuring remixes by Aoki/AM, Klever, Larry Tee/Alexander Technique, The Faint, AC Slater & Milano.
Following the Gladiator EP, Autoerotique showed off the many colourful arrows in their musical quiver releasing remixes for Benny Benassi, Felix Luker, Tiesto, Etienne de Crecy, Joachim Garraud, Sarah McLeod, Lykke Li, Shinichi Osawa, Chris Cornell & Timbaland, Diplo & Laidback luke, Larry Tee, B. Rich, Disco Bisquits, Fischerspooner and Weezer.
