More than 600 artists have signed a letter of demand called #MusiciansForPalestine, launched on May 28 in support of Palestine’s right to freedom. Musicians and music industry members across the electronic music, independent and alternative rock scenes signed the letter, promising to boycott performances at Israeli cultural institutions.

The letter stands as a statement of solidarity with Palestine, and demands “justice, dignity and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people and all who are fighting colonial dispossession and violence across the planet.” Signatories include Nicolás Jaar, LSDXOXO, DJ Snake, A-Trak, ZULI, Rage Against the Machine and Patti Smith to name a few, all of whom have promised to refuse gigs “at Israel’s complicit cultural institutions.”

This significant cultural boycott comes after mounting tensions between Israel and Palestine, the latest development of which was an agreed upon ceasefire between the territories. This follows an exchange of fire along the Gaza strip that lasted 11 days and which, according to Aljazeera, killed over 248 Palestinians.

The letter, including the full list of names of all artists who have signed, is available to read on the #MusiciansForPalestine website, here.
