The noise rap outfit, Clipping, return to the UK for the first time following a rare one-off performance in the wake of infamous ATP debacle – Jabberwocky – two years ago.
Since then the LA trio have been busy recording and releasing one of this year’s finest and most envelope-pushing hip-hop records – Splendor & Misery; an Afrofuturist tale of love between man and machine aboard a slave ship spiralling through space, obviously. Vocalist Daveed Diggs has also been adorning his cap with illustrious new feathers; he has won multiple awards for his roles in Hamilton, appeared in the Netflix musical drama The Get Down, and provided a track for the animated film Zootopia.
The nights of Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st, however, will be all about the sheer force of Clipping as they prepare to stage a sonic assault on the darkened concrete corners of south London. Those in attendance can expect Digg’s lyrics to be delivered at a breakneck pace over shards of barbed feedback and chest-caving kick drums. This is not one to sleep on.
