What is it that makes a game great? Is it the gameplay, the truly immersive storyline or the small side quests and Easter eggs? Perhaps it’s all of the above but it’s difficult to deny the true importance of an epic soundtrack to accompany the game. Few know it better than the major game developers Ubisoft who have truly embraced the deeply cinematic soundscapes. Take Far Cry® 3: Blood Dragon, for instance, with its retro-inspired synthwave soundtrack that melded the sci-fi and action world seamlessly. The company went so far as to create both the Rocksmith and Just Dance franchises, which have enchanted music lovers around the world.
Jump forward 9 years and here we are, with Far Cry 6® on the horizon (to be released on the 7th of October 2021) and more music to be discovered. The game will be accompanied by multiple official soundtracks, with Far Cry® 6 (Original Game Soundtrack) composed by award-winning Pedro Bromfman the first to be released. The producer has merged Caribbean influences with the neo-classical, creating a unique atmosphere perfect for endless hours of gameplay. Producer and composer Pedro Bromfman shares the inspiration behind the soundtrack: “The album is based on a very modern score, drenched in lush soundscapes, driving percussion, processed organic instruments and a ton of synthesizers. We tried to capture the soul of Yara, and its characters, by rooting the score on traditional Latin American and Caribbean music, while being completely free to experiment with contemporary sounds, elements and techniques, in hopes of creating something very fresh and unique. The score for Far Cry 6 overflows with distinctive, haunting melodies and character themes, accompanying and further immersing the players in their amazing journey through Yara. A journey full of beauty, violence, adrenaline and passion.’”
